Roseblood Paul Doherty Books

This story is set in London in 1455 with King Henry VI, a very weak and ineffectual Lancastrian king on the throne. It is a time of turmoil with Richard of York setting his eyes on the throne. Simon Roseblood, a staunch supporter of King Henry VI is a London Lord, Alderman and owner of the Roseblood Tavern. He has two sons, one of whom is a monk and a daughter Katherine who is beautiful but very dreamy. Corrupt city officials attempt to indict Simon Roseblood in order to take over his tavern, and his responsibilities, in order to weaken support for the King and remove a powerful Alderman from London. These efforts to do so and the way that Simon Roseblood schemes to thwart their plans makes for a very interesting and absorbing story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was easily able to imagine myself living in those turbulent times.

Roseblood Paul Doherty Books Reviews

fast service and item as advertised
good read
slow and complicated had trouble figuring who was who. i actually like this author loved his books but not this one
I am a big fan of Paul Doherty and this book did not disappoint. I can only hope that this will be the beginning of a long series.
Perhaps this the first of a series. It may be a stand alone, but the various characters and the novel's conclusion would lead one to believe more is to come. After all, this is the start of the Wars of the Roses. This is vintage Paul Doherty. Four stars because the lead characters needed more definition.
I love this author's Edward I series. He should, perhaps, stick to the era he specializes in.
I expected to like ROSEBLOOD, given the era and the teaser blurb, but ended up not finishing the book. I felt as though the author was writing for readers with attention deficit disorder -- constantly pulling us from one scene to the next without a chance to absorb its importance. Unfortunately, that also made the characters seem two-dimensional, which prevented me from caring about any of them. Since Mr. Doherty has a large and loyal following, I'm doubtless in a minority. Will try another book of his at some other time.
