Euphoria Part 1 Book 1 eBook Jourdan Alexandra Alana Reiterowski

Riley Dawson is preparing to leave her beloved sunny California community to go to college at Lyndon State in Vermont. Her mother is upset that Riley refuses to stay at home and go to college in California where she teaches. Her mother decides to give Riley one last reading from the Viking Runes before she departs. The stones show disruption and the unknown to come. Dismissing the prediction, Riley heads off to school.

Riley eyes a dark, brooding, sensual student who goes by the name of Remaunt. She has an almost instant attraction to him that she tries desperately to fight. Her body does strange things when she is around him; but her head says "danger." Some unusual things are happening on and around the campus that starts to make Riley nervous including a barn owl that seems to be following her. Eventually, Riley can no longer deny the unusual when a situation arises with her friend, and she is forced to see that Remaunt is immortal, VAMPIRE!

This story is quite unlike any other vampire story I have read. There is a strong sense of sexual tension going on that you wait to erupt; but it doesn't. It gives you just enough to keep you on the edge without going over. People are mysteriously disappearing from the campus; but no one knows where. There are hints about what is happening and you want to keep reading to see where it will lead.

I hope I have this correct. This is the first book written by Jourdan. It is quite an awesome read. The storyline is well executed and follows a distinct path. The characters are well thought out and each one has a definite place in the story. Remaunt is a dark and brooding character who screams sex appeal at you. Riley I found to be a bit self righteous. She was a bit contradictory in her dealings with Remaunt. One minute she was flirting and teasing him. The next she was nasty to him and pushing him away. Even though I didn't like her, her character fit the part. The story leaves you hanging by the time you get to the end; but this only adds to the appeal of the book in order to get you psyched for the next installment. All in all, this is an excellent read and I highly recommend it. I am certainly looking forward to the second part of Book 1.

I wish to thank Jourdan for providing me with a copy to read and review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions expressed are my own. I was not compensated in any way except for the privilege of reading the book.

Euphoria Part 1 Book 1 eBook Jourdan Alexandra Alana Reiterowski Reviews

Jourdan Alexandra has a way with words, her writing is beautifully constructed. I liked Euphoria and its' new voice to the paranormal genre.

The descriptions in the book are fantastic. But, I did spend some time skipping long detailed paragraphs to get to something new. It seemed to drag on through some parts but then it would pick up again.

Euphoria has a kind of dark side it made the story interesting and kept me reading. Alexandra does a wonderful job, in this part 1, setting up the story in Vermont and creating a full list of characters that will be fun to follow into part 2.

Riley was an identifiable character. She's a college freshman transplanted from California to Vermont who lives with her cousin, Hailey. I really liked the relationship between Hailey and Riley. Very sisterly and sometimes overprotected, but just cute and relateable. Hailey's past makes her a dimensional character who I hope to see grow throughout part 2. I can't say I'm really a fan of Remaunt. He really creeps me out. His dialogue really bothered me, it just felt forced and stiff. I did really like that Remaunt isn't a mushy lovey dovey guy but I felt like maybe he wants to change that about him.

I really enjoyed the addition of the Viking Runes to the story, it made it different than all the other paranormal ya books out there. The addition of the raven and some Edgar Allen Poe references had me thinking back to Nevermore, but it's a very different story.

Not a lot, resolution wise, happens in this book. As it is a part 1, the climax really happens at the end, and has left me needing to read part 2. Alexandra's writing is amazing and she does a great job in this novel.

Thank you to the author for the chance to review this book!
Euphoria Part 1 by Jourdan Alexandra was a fantastic read! I couldn't help but love the character Riley. She's young, smart and not so easily conquered compared to some other vampire, paranormal leading ladies. The storyline is definitely unique whether it's because there are creepy, mysterious oracle runes, shapeshifter vampire owls? Or maybe, it's because vampire Remaunt is from the Elizabethan Era...Shakespeare anyone?

Alexandra's writing style is lovely, lyrical almost, the book was a smooth and easy read. I enjoyed Riley's spirit and the idea of a college girl getting stalked by a gorgeous vampire not a teen/tween. It made it more believable as a reader. Although Alexandra does explain/expel a few traits/rumors of vampires i'm glad she didn't go overboard in detail. It gave Remaunt and the story a little more mystery to it.

I also found it intriguing that although Riley's character is in real danger twice through out the book, she is never made to look like a damsel in distress. This was VERY refreshing and I found myself enamored with Riley's character because of it. Another detail that I loved was the fact that Alexandra didn't sugar coat what Remaunt was. A Killer. He's not a "veggie" vampire who only drinks the blood of animals...he kills to survive. Although he does have a choice in who he kills, it was fantastic to read to about the barbaric side of Remaunt.

Overall, I loved Euphoria, Part 1! The only thing I didn't love was the fact that the end was a cliffhanger. Even with the preview of Part 2 the book felt incomplete. I really wish Alexandra would have either made Part 1 longer because there was a lot of questions unanswered or Part 2 should have been released shortly after Part 1. In reality, Euphoria read like a five star review but unfortunately the ending killed the fifth star for me. I do look forward to reading more about Riley and Remaunt and I can only hope that Part 2 releases before the end of the year! I highly recommend this book to vampire lovers everywhere.
